Attempted kidnapping in Summerville

  • Thursday, July 11, 2013

A 15-year-old girl narrowly escaped an abduction attempt early Wednesday morning.
The young woman was walking in the Plum Creek subdivision neighborhood, in Summerville, at approximately 1 a.m., when a small, older model, dark-colored pickup truck, which appeared to be a low rider type vehicle, drove up to her. A white male got out and attempted to grab her and pull her into the truck.
The girl hit him in the right cheek with her elbow and began to scream and struggle. The man yelled at her to shut up. The girl continued to scream and struggle and was able to break free. She ran to a friend's house for help.
Adults in the neighborhood went looking for the assailant and truck prior to calling police.
The man is described as approximately 6-feet tall, and possibly in his late 30s, with short dark hair.
Anyone with information is asked to call the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office at 843-873-5111 or Crimestoppers at 843-554-1111.
