A Summerville man was arrested July 30 and charged with possession with intent to distribute marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and discharging a firearm within the town limits.

Police arrested Carl Thompson Jr., of 509 Corey Blvd, after security personnel at The Ville, a sports bar and lounge at 110 Miles Jamison Road, said he fired three shots in the air as he drove off after being told to leave.

The security workers said Thompson and two other men had falsely claimed to pay the cover charge, then started a fight.

Security asked them to leave, and the three men got into a car and rode around the parking lot, with Thompson firing off the shots, according to what workers told police.

According to the incident report, police searched the area for shell casings but were unable to find any.

However, earlier in the night police had received a call about three suspicious men at a hotel on Holiday Drive.

Another guest at the hotel reported one of the men had lifted up his shirt to reveal a handgun in his waistband and said, “bang bang.”

Police had identified a likely subject in that earlier incident based on hotel records, and using that information they found and stopped the car on North Main Street at W. 7th North Street.

Police arrested Thompson and issued trespass notices from the sports bar to the other two.
