Funeral services will be held Saturday afternoon, October 11, 2008 at Summerville Baptist Church at 1 o’clock.
Burial will be in Summerville Cemetery.
Friends may call at Parks Funeral Home Friday evening from 5 – 8 o’clock.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Palmetto House Homeless Shelter, 107 Elks Lodge, Summerville, SC 29483 or to the Summerville Fire Department, 300 W. 2nd North St., Summerville, SC 29483.
Mr. Bunch was born July 21, 1939 in Summerville, SC, a son of Robert Michael Bunch and Jeanette Melfi Bunch.
Joe attended Summerville High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
He retired from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Department with over 20 years of service.
He worked for the Dorchester School District Two as a former crossing guard and currently as district courier.
He loved the school district and devoted his life to it. He always took time to stop and talk to anyone he came upon.
Joe never met a stranger.
Surviving are a sister Mary Ann McKinney and her husband James of Delaware; a brother Robert Michael Bunch; a son, Tracy Bunch Myers and his wife Melinda of Hartsville, SC; and two granddaughters, Melissa Myers, Stephanie Smith; and a great-grandson, David Smith.
