YMCA to host senior health day

On Wednesday, May 28 an estimated 150,000 older adults will participate in local fitness activities throughout the country as part of the 15th annual National Senior Health & Fitness Day®, the nation’s largest health event for older adults. The Summerville Family YMCA will host this event locally.
Senior Health & Fitness Day will offer fitness activities for older adults ages 55+. Activities at the YMCA will range from small group exercise classes (water aerobics, yoga, chair exercise) to fitness testing and guest speakers.
“Older adults at all levels of physical fitness are encouraged to participate in our National Senior Health & Fitness Day,” says Jan Parsons, YMCA Wellness Center Director. “Our goals for Senior Day are to make exercise fun, to increase awareness of the benefits of a regular exercise programs for older adults, and to encourage all older adults to take advantage of the many health and fitness programs offered in their communities.”
The event at the YMCA will be held from 8:30am-12:30pm on Wednesday, May 28 and is free to anyone 55 and older. Lunch will be provided to those who participate. Please call the YMCA to register, 871-9622 x 100.
