An elderly Dorchester woman was killed Friday afternoon when her car crossed the center line and struck an oncoming SUV.
Beatrice McFadden, 79, was pronounced dead — the result of multiple traumas — at the scene of the wreck, which occurred on U.S. Hwy. 78 near Campbell Thicket Road, Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet said.
McFadden’s 1994 Toyota Corolla was traveling westbound about 12:52 p.m. when it collided with an eastbound 2004 Ford SUV driven by Roosevelt Felder of Ridgeville, the State Highway Patrol reported.
Felder, 66, was transported to Medical University Hospital where he remained in critical condition Monday afternoon.
McFadden was wearing her seatbelt; Felder was not, according to the Highway Patrol.
