Fourteen Dorchester District 2 teachers were honored Monday night for receiving Distinguished Arts Program Grants from the South Carolina Department of Education.
The grants will serve to assist the schools in developing and implementing large-scale arts initiatives.
“It never ceases to amaze me that in our school district, with the resources we have, we milk them for as much as we possibly can,” said Pay Raynor, DD2 Public Information Officer. “What makes (our district) extraordinary are the teachers and the administrators who seek out additional resources for our schools and students.”
Added Raynor, “The grants will help expand art programs and afford opportunities for our young people that could otherwise not be provided for them.”
The grants totaled $159,029. The following list details the teachers that received grants as well as their school and the amount of the grant.
