North Charleston Open slated for next weekend

The 2008 North Charleston Open Championship is slated for Nov. 15-16 at Wescott Golf Club.
The inaugural championship is open to all players who are 16 and older.  It features three competitive flights – Championship, Net and Senior (60 plus).
“The Open is not just for the better player,” Wescott Head Golf Professional Brad Parker said. “We have competition slated for all levels of play.  I’m just excited to be a part of it.”
The event is presented by Wescott Golf Club and sponsored by the City of North Charleston. Registration deadline for is Thursday, Nov. 13.  “The course conditions right now are absolutely awesome,” Parker said. “The Lowcountry is ready for a tournament of this caliber – and so are we.”
Wescott Golf Club was designed by Dr. Michael Hurdzan, two-time recipient of the Donald Ross Award presented by the American Society of Golf Course Architects.  Dr. Hurdzan is an internationally recognized authority on golf course environmental issues because of his work to educate the golf industry on environmentally sensitive development. The 27-hole facility is owned by the City of North Charleston and Operated by Classic Golf Management of Atlanta.
