The Dorchester County Career and Technology Center hosted a luncheon and tour of the campus Nov. 18 for the guidance counselors of the district’s middle schools.
“This is a great way for the schools to learn about what is offered here at DCCTC,” said James Villeponteaux, Director of DCCTC.
“The students begin thinking about what they want to be when they graduate high school in the eighth-grade and these guidance counselors can help them decide if this school is best for their needs and desires.”
A luncheon was prepared for the counselors by the culinary arts department at DCCTC.
They prepared the food and served the counselors, which was a learning experience for the culinary students.
A presentation was given by the DCCTC counselors, which included the many different aspects DCCTC has to offer.
The presentation was followed by a tour of the school and the counselors were given a chance to ask any questions.
“We would like to thank all of the guidance counselors and their schools for taking the time to come and visit DCCTC,” said Villeponteaux. “We hope that this luncheon and tour gave insight to them so they can help better prepare the future of high school students.”
