LANCASTER, S.C. (AP) — Police say a 2-year-old South Carolina boy has been scalded in hot water and his father has been arrested and accused of mistreating a child. The Herald of Rock Hill reported 23-year-old Christian Brown was arrested Monday by Lancaster County sheriff's deputies. Sheriff Barry Faile says a childcare employee alerted emergency medical workers after finding blisters on the boy. A sheriff's report says the child was taken to Springs Memorial Hospital in Lancaster with burns on his bottom and genitals. Faile says the boy suffered first- and second-degree burns and was being observed at the hospital. The sheriff's report says the boy's mother told authorities they were potty-training the boy and he was not doing well. She has not been charged. It was unclear Wednesday if Brown had an attorney.
