Arrest made in home invasion shooting

Charleston County Sheriff’s deputies have made an arrest in connection with a home invasion that left a man dead.
Investigators say Leland Shannon Jr., 40, of Lincolnville was shot early Tuesday morning as he sat at the kitchen table of his residence at 805 West Carolina Avenue in Lincolnville. He was transported to MUSC where he died about 7:10 that morning.
Shannon was the son of Leland Shannon, a Lincolnville town council member, according to CCSO officials.
James Reginald Rose is currently housed in Al Cannon Detention Center charged with murder, attempted murder, first degree burglary, and possession of a firearm during commission of a violent crime, according to CCSO officials.
According to CCSO officials, deputies responded to a call early Tuesday morning in reference to a home invasion at a residence in Lincolnville. When they arrived, a witness told them that an unknown black male dressed in all black wearing a mask forced his way into the residence and shot Shannon in the leg. The witness also said at least two additional unknown black males were involved in the incident.
The investigation continues.
