The Flowertown Festival is just around the corner and by now we know not to expect many 'flowers' to be in bloom in the next few weeks. However, I do wish the festival organizers would "make this up to us," by bringing back local entertainment to the venue list. They say this doesn't bring money, but how about the 'followers ' and or families' of these groups who come to see these entertainers, where they may not normally bother to attend. It brings a 'festive atmosphere’ to events and isn't that what festivals are all about? The Flowertown Fest weekend is my favorite weekend here, so it's sad when I here folks say they don't care to go because “It isn't what it used to be.” And they aren't talking about crowds, which, by the way, if anyone complains of that, I tell them I have been to worse! Coconut Grove's annual festival has at least four rows of people to view the artwork. So please bring back the entertainers and keep everything else just like it is.
