Responding to escalating healthcare costs and the desire to create more health awareness, Carolina One Real Estate is launching a Wellness Program designed to help individuals take charge of their own healthcare.
The concept is simple: educate employees and sales associates to make the small changes in lifestyle that would make big differences in their personal and professional lives.
“Our vision is to create a culture that increases the value of the company and the individual by focusing on healthy minds and bodies,” said Jean Galemore, committee chairperson.  Galemore went on to say, “Our goal is to create programs that target stress, diet, smoking, exercise and weight loss.”
Monthly activities planned include CPR classes, flu shots, health screenings, wellness speakers, weight loss contests, walkathons and stress management.
Patty Scarafile, CEO of Carolina One added, “As business professionals we know how rewarding it is to provide valuable benefits to our employees and associates.  We expect this to be a very effective program.”
There is a 15-person committee made up of agents and staff poised to create a Health Assessment Survey before kicking off the program in January, 2010.  Members of the committee, in addition to Ms. Galemore are Lide Bailey, Maria Barrow, Philip Cheves, Grange Cuthbert, Carolyn Elkins, Teresa Evans, Joy Gerardi, Joel Greer, Kris Kordonowy, Cathy Remington, Vito Scarafile, Gay Slough, Barbara Walker and Barbara Weaver.
