More than a week after a student at Presbyterian College went missing, police are still searching for a lead that could solve the case.
Volunteer search teams from around the state came into Clinton over the weekend to look for any sign of Eric Christie Robertson. The 21-year-old was last seen at approximately 11 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 23. He left behind his wallet, cell phone and vehicle at the PC campus, and investigators haven’t seen a sign of him since.
Clinton Public Safety have searched vacant buildings around Clinton, and over the weekend volunteers searched the wooded area between Springdale Drive and Sunset Boulevard near PC.
“They went back over some areas we had searched and made sure there wasn’t anything we’d missed,” said Public Safety Director Stacey Drakeford.
The Foothills Search and Rescue team, a private organization out of Greenville, joined with the Starr team from Swansea and South Carolina Search Dogs to comb a three-mile radius around PC for any sign of Robertson, without apparent success.
The State Law Enforcement Division and other surrounding law enforcement have also provided Public Safety with support and resources.
“We took all the assistance that we can take,” Drakeford said. “DNR (Department of Natural Resources) even rode their four-wheelers up and down the railroad tracks... I appreciate all the help and assistance we have got from them and the volunteers.”
Drakeford said Public Safety devoted five full days to searching for Robertson Wednesday through Sunday, and is now seeking more information about Robertson’s possible whereabouts.
“We’re going to re-look at the case and see what we need to do going forward,” he said Monday. “We’re going to continue to work the case, but right now we need somebody to show up or call with any information that might help us find him... I hope we can get some leads or that he just turns up somewhere.”
Robertson has been entered into the FBI’s National Crime Information Center. He is described as a white male with black hair and blue eyes, standing five-feet nine-inches tall and weighing approximately 155 pounds. No description of the clothes Robertson was wearing when he disappeared was available.
