Dorchester County woman turns 107 years old

Lesser Banister Spells was born on February 5, 1903 in Ridgeville, SC to the late John Banister and the late Irene Mack Banister.

Lesser attended the Public schools of Dorchester County, formally known as Silver Hill.

In 1925, she was married to the late Mr. Frank Spells, also of Ridgeville, SC.

Mrs. Spells is very active and maintains her own home, including cooking, baking, doing laundry and light house work.

She attributes her longevity to her faith in God, her 10 children (3 deceased), 24 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 67 great-great grandchildren.

She loves to share her wisdom and her early childhood experiences with those who come in contact with her.
