A fire destroyed a home on Miles Jamison Road in Dorchester County Monday afternoon, displacing a family of three.
Red Cross volunteers responded to the scene, providing the family with temporary lodging and financial assistance to replace food and clothing lost in the fire. Volunteers also distributed comfort kits filled with emergency supplies to the family.
The Red Cross has assisted 773 individuals needing aid due to home fires in its seven-county region of Beaufort, Berkeley, Charleston, Colleton, Dorchester, Hampton and Jasper Counties since January 1, 2010 and 195 residential fire victims since July 1, 2010.  of the community can support local victims of disasters similar to this and enable the Red Cross to assist families who are impacted by residential firesby contacting the American Red Cross at 843-764-2323 ext. 368 or by going to www.LowcountryRedCross.orgto make a donation.
