Fire and sheriff’s investigators are looking into what caused a small fire behind the shopping center at 10597 Dorchester Road last Thursday. Firefighters with Old Fort Fire Department quickly extinguished the flames after they broke out about 12:30 p.m. and charred the building between Eileen’s restaurant and Jumpin’ Juice and Java, said Old Fort Chief Ed Genthert. The fire was contained to the building exterior and likely originated in two plastic containers that held oily rags, Genthert said. The owner of Health Insurance Depot, which is located between the restaurant and coffee shop, asked that the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office investigate the fire, according to an incident report. Genthert said Monday that the fire is still under investigation by his department.
