Popular restaurant chain Five Guys Burgers and Fries will open a Summerville location in mid-March, according to franchise owner Sean Moore.
It will be located on Main Street in front of Wal Mart, next to Colucci Jewelers. The spot is where the old Blimpie sandwich shop used to be, said Charlie Miller, economic director with the town of Summerville.
“It’s being remodeled right now,” Miller said.
The restaurant menu has burgers, fries and hot dogs only and customers order at a counter. None of the Five Guys Burgers and Fries locations have drive-thru service.
The Main Street location will be a state-of-the-art facility; it will have an outdoor patio and plenty of parking, Moore said.
Five Guys Burgers and Fries already has two Charleston locations, and Moore said the owners have been looking for the right Summerville location for some time.
“Summerville has always been on the list, and now we are extremely excited,” Moore said. He added that both the general manager and assistant general manager of the store are from Summerville.
Owners will begin hiring workers for the Summerville location mid-to-late February, Moore said.
“We have had more inquiries as to when we were coming to Summerville than for any other (Charleston-area) location, and we are looking forward to opening and making people happy,” Moore said.
The restaurant will be open seven days a week from 11 a.m. until 10 p.m.
