The Patriot boys’ soccer team handed Beaufort a 3-1 loss in North Charleston Tuesday.
“We were banged up with five players out with injuries,” Fort Dorchester coach Rick Nobbs said.
“I was very proud on how our bench stepped up and contributed. Beaufort played well but we executed our game plan, controlled the ball and put the ball in the back of the net with three solid finishes.”
Randall Eads, Devin L’Amoreaux, and Alex Moore scored the goals for the Fort. Beaufort’s sole goal by Will Holland.
The Patriots improved to 7-3 on the year with a 3-4 mark in region play.
The Fort is tied for third place in the region with the Eagles (9-5, 3-4) so its last game of the regular season is a critical one.
The game against Summerville (8-8, 4-2) was scheduled for Thursday night, after press time.
West Ashley won this year’s region crown and Summerville will finish as the runner-up in the region.
The Fort girls (7-3, 4-3) dropped their game with Beaufort (10-4, 4-3) Tuesday by a 2-0 score.
West Ashley also claimed the girls’ region title, but the Fort had the chance to clinch the runner-up spot and the home playoff game that comes with it against Summerville (9-9, 3-4) in another game played after press time.
The Summerville girls defeated Academic Magnet 3-0 Tuesday. The Lady Wave had goals from Megan Higgins, Lauren Anderson and Kaitlin Gilliam.  Alex Biller and Chelsie Mummert shard the shutout in goal.
