I read Jenny Peterson's article on the retail study conducted by Arnett, Muldrow and Associates with much interest. I was surprised to see that the firm recommended that the county seek more retail outlets for furniture, sporting goods, and electronics, but did not mention bookstores or craft stores. It seems that many Summervillians travel to North Charleston to visit Barnes & Noble, Books-A-Million, AC Moore, and Michael's Crafts. I personally spend literally hundreds of dollars at these businesses each year and would much rather shop in my own town if these stores-- or better yet a Hobby Lobby and Borders Books and Music-- were available to me in Summerville! Any other readers or crafters out there looking for a well-stocked hometown store?
