Green Wave and Swamp Fox basketball teams picked up wins Jan. 22.
The Summerville teams traveled to Beaufort and swept the Eagles.
The Summerville girls (6-7, 2-2) earned a 43-39 victory over the Lady Eagles (9-9, 0-3).
“It was close,” Summerville coach Teresa Kendle said. “Beaufort hit a 3 at the end, but we were able to hold on to get the win. Anytime you can win in Beaufort, you’ve accomplished something. We played good defense and Shanolla Council had a good game.”
Council led all scorers with 21 points. She also had five steals and four rebounds. Whitney Palmer had 9 points and as many rebounds. Tinara Brown finished with 6 points and Alex Graham had 5 points and seven rebounds.
Deja Jackson led Beaufort with 11 points.
The Summerville boys (9-9, 2-2) earned a 61-59 win.
“It was a rock’em, sock’em game,” Summerville coach Greg Elliott said. “Every time we would go up, they would come back. The big play came with about a minute left when Deonte Russian passed to JD Tucker and he got a basket. We played some good defense, which is important when you’re on the road.”
Mario Pendarvis had 13 points for the Wave. Trailing were JD Tucker (12), Ronderick Tucker (10), Russian (9) and Marlon Pryor (6). Dymonte Gwathney led Beaufort (8-10, 1-2) with 19.
The Ashley Ridge teams split with Bishop England Friday with the boys winning 42-40 and the girls losing 36-61. Chris Redd led the Foxes with 9 points. Fred Weeks and Romelo Doctor both had 8.
