A Summerville man died last weekend in a single-car collision after he lost control of his pickup truck and struck a roadside culvert, authorities reported.
Justin Wayne Brown, 19, was pronounced dead about 11:25 p.m. last Saturday at the scene of the wreck on Jedburg Road between Interstate 26 and U.S. Hwy. 78, Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet said.
Brown was trapped and couldn’t be pulled from the overturned truck before it caught fire, Nisbet said. He was the lone occupant.
The wreck remains under investigation, said Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins of the S.C. Highway Patrol.
Brown, who was born in Bermuda, grew up in Goose Creek and graduated from Stratford High School, according to an obituary on the James A. Dyal Funeral Home Web site.
Brown is survived by his parents, sister, grandmothers and numerous other family members, the obituary says.
