Jonathan Miller, a Charleston-based children’s author, will address Cathedral Academy’s Lower School students on Friday, Sept. 3.
Miller, the author of the “Sammy the Wonder Dachshund” series, will discuss the writing process as well as rewriting, editing, publishing, and bookmaking with the students in grades K4 through 5th. He will also detail the process he uses to illustrate the book series, which involves numerous layers of cardstock and construction paper. Miller typically spends 30 to 40 hours illustrating each page of his books.
Miller, a Clover native and College of Charleston graduate, has written two books, Sammy’s Last Week in Charleston and Sammy on Safari. He appeared on ETV’s Traveling Author Series and had his work featured in the summer 2010 catalog for Vineyard Vines clothing. Miller has presented his books and insights on writing with over 70,000 students in the past two years.
