CHARLESTON, SC – The Charleston RiverDogs are taking their show on the road and letting the pups step up to the plate.
The RiverDogs and their “Be Your Own Fan!” experience are going beyond the comfortable seats of Joseph P. Riley, Jr. Park as the team turns the spotlight on Summerville for their 4th Annual “Spotlight Game” on Aug. 27.
The Lowcountry’s baseball faithful have packed Riley Park all season long to take part in the one-of-a-kind America’s Pastime experience that is RiverDogs baseball. Now, that same fun-filled experience is coming to the fans.
Charlie T. RiverDog, public address announcer Ken Carrington, and the rest of the RiverDogs’ fun-oriented crew will be at the Summerville Sports Complex (Little League Complex) at Boundary Street this Friday at 6:30 p.m. at Field No. 3 for a special exhibition match up between two coach-pitch teams comprised of 7, 8 and 9-year-olds from the local community.
The competing teams will be guests of the RiverDogs when the club hosts the Greenville Drive at Riley Park on Sept. 1.
“This is our annual event when we take our home-game experience on the road to help youth teams enjoy baseball even more,” RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols said. “I know that the kids and parents enjoy this special opportunity, and to be honest, we as a staff enjoy it as well.”
From their RBI Program to the pregame Field of Dreams and Youth Baseball Nights at the park, the RiverDogs have always been fans and supporters of youth baseball in the Lowcountry and take it to the next level with their annual “Spotlight Game.”
