ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) — State officials say a South Carolina water park was in compliance with all rules when a 4-year-old girl drowned during a private party.
Department of Health and Environmental Control spokesman Adam Myrick told The Times and Democrat of Orangeburg that DHEC inspection determined the Orangeburg YMCA met all the agency's requirements when the drowning happened last Saturday.
Authorities say Ariana Robinson of Neeses was found underwater beneath a water slide during a private party. Her death has been ruled an accidental drowning.
The YCMA has kept its pool and water park closed since the drowning out of respect for the family. The pool will reopen Thursday and water park will reopen Friday.
