SHS NJROTC cadets complete Leadership Academy
Thursday, July 30, 2009

Cadets Ebony Hinton, Kimberly Mason and Daniel Mizzell recently completed the Navy JROTC’s Leadership Academy. The annual academy was hosted by Costal Carolina University and run by NJROTC’s Area 6, which includes more than 65 units in North and South Carolina. The academy uses training, teamwork and camaraderie to turn the high school juniors into senior leaders. During the week, the cadets are divided into multiple platoons and participate in events such as physical training, uniform and room inspections and a drill competition.
The cadets ended the week with a graduation ceremony during which they received a silver shoulder cord to wear on their uniforms, signifying the completion of the leadership academy. The Navy JROTC has more than 600 NJROTC units worldwide.
