The Ashley Ridge boys’ basketball team had a convincing win over Garrett Tech Tuesday night.
The Swamp Foxes earned a 55-39 victory to improve their record to 8-9 with a 3-2 standing in Region 6-AA. It was the team’s third consecutive victory in region play.
While the game began with a fast pace, both teams only managed 6 points in the opening period. Shots began to fall in the second as the Foxes outscored Tech 18-10 for a 24-16 lead at the half.
The Foxes rode the momentum built up by a late push in the second into the third and rolled to victory.
Khalil Davis led all scorers with 13 points. Romelo Doctor finished with 12 while Chris Redd provided 8, Tre Deloach and Fred Weeks 7 each, Andrew Kolgaklis 6 and Charles Hanckel 2. Rashidus Goode led Tech with 11 points and Ankham Small chipped in 10.
Ashley Ridge has a chance to avenge one of its region losses when it travels to Woodland Jan. 29. Earlier this season, the Wolverines edged out the Foxes by a mere 2 points at The Swamp.
Next week, the Foxes host rematches with region leader Burke and Cane Bay.
