Body found of man who apparently drowned in SC

BEAUFORT, S.C. (AP) — Officials have found the body of a South Carolina man who disappeared while swimming off the coast of Hunting Island.

The Beaufort Gazette reported the body of 31-year-old Joseph Scott of Allendale was found early Monday by members of the South Carolina State Park Service.
Officials say Scott was swimming about 200 yards offshore with friends Saturday afternoon when he went under the water and did not resurface.
Beaufort County Coroner Ed Allen says Scott's body has been sent to the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston for an autopsy.
Members of Scott's family told authorities that he was a capable swimmer.
