Citadel hosts forum on Southern politics
Published Thursday, March 04, 2010 8:30 AM
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Voting behavior in the Carolinas and the 2008 elections are topics at an academic forum this week at The Citadel in South Carolina.

The two-day Symposium on Southern Politics — an event held every two years — opens at the military college in Charleston on Thursday.

Other topics this year include cultural influences on Southern politics and the continuing role of race in the region's elections.

It's the 17th time the symposium has been held. It's sponsored by the military school's Department of Political Science and Criminal Justice.
