More high surf, rip currents as Earl passes SC
Published Thursday, September 02, 2010 9:11 AM
CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) — Hurricane Earl is expected to pass by well off the South Carolina coast, but its effects will evident as the storm passes.

The National Weather Service said Thursday rip currents were expected along the entire coast. Rip currents can pull swimmers out to sea.

The weather service also says a high surf advisory is in effect. The warning is in effect until midnight Thursday on the north coast and until 6 a.m. Friday on the south coast.

Wind gusts of up to 30 miles an hour are expected in the Georgetown and Myrtle Beach areas.

Gusts of up to 25 miles an hour are expected from Charleston south to Beaufort.
