Sheheen wants 5 SC governor debates with Haley
Published Tuesday, August 31, 2010 9:55 AM
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — Democratic gubernatorial candidate Vincent Sheheen says he and Republican Nikki Haley should meet for five debates in their South Carolina campaign.

Multiple media outlets reported that Sheheen has proposed five debates, complete with recommended locations and topics. He says the debates should follow the Lincoln-Douglas debate formats, where candidates question each other.

Haley's campaign says it looks forward to debating Sheheen before the November election, but won't let Sheheen set the terms.

Sheheen suggested debates in Greenville, Columbia, Charleston, Rock Hill and Myrtle Beach.
