Early Detection Saves Lives

North Charleston, S.C./ September 5, 2012 – Other than skin cancer, prostate cancer is the most common cancer in American men, according to the American Cancer Society. About 241,740 new cases of prostate cancer will be diagnosed this year.

Approximately 1 man in 36 will die of prostate cancer. However, more than 2.5 million men in the United States who have had prostate cancer at some point are still alive today. The death rate is decreasing, in part because of early detection.

During September’s Prostate Cancer Awareness month, Trident Health will be offering four free prostate cancer screenings at its medical centers throughout the Lowcountry. To register for any of these free screenings, please call Consult-A-Nurse at 843-797-FIND (3463).
