Dr. Joseph Asaro decided to pursue a career in surgery as a result of a bad break to his leg while he was a teenager growing up in Florida. “The surgeon that took care of me was my hero, and I really looked up to him.” As he studied in medical school, he chose to pursue general surgery because of the array of procedures it involved, including lump removal, hernia repair and minimally invasive procedures for appendectomy and gallbladder removal. He joined Dr. Thomas Litton and Dr. Jeffrey Lafond at Tri-County Surgical Associates in North Charleston as a result of their strong reputation and work ethic. “The surgeons I work with treat their patients the way I treat my patients, with compassion. We put in as much time as needed for the patient.”
