The Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office is looking into the circumstances behind two unrelated shootings that occurred Tuesday evening.
The first incident occurred at about 11:20 Tuesday at a residence in Reevesville. According to a DCSO incident report, a deputy was dispatched to 4513 Wire Road at about 11:20 p.m. Tuesday in reference to a shooting. When the deputy arrived, he spoke with the complainant, who told him that an unknown black male subject shot his 19-year-old cousin. The deputy spoke to the victim, whom he found lying on his side in a middle bedroom with wounds in his side and foot. The victim said he did not know who shot him nor did he provide any information about the incident.
The deputy then spoke to the complainant again, who said he was in his bedroom when he heard a noise in the living room and then a gunshot. Upon hearing the shot, the complainant said he jumped out of bed, went into the hall, looked around a corner and saw an unknown black male subject holding a gun. He changed his story, however, saying he didn’t see anyone or anything but heard an argument, two shots, and his cousin yelling,” You shot me in the foot.”
The complainant then said he went back into another room to get a shotgun but by the time he got back to the living room the subject had left the premises in a black pick up truck.
The deputy further noted that the complainant changed his story several times, but admitted that he does sell marijuana out of the residence, according to the report.
Another witness told the deputy that he, another individual, and the witness were sitting in the living room when someone knocked at the door. When the victim answered the door, an unknown black male with a gun in his hand told the victim he wasn’t supposed to be there. The two scuffled, the gun went off twice, and the victim and the other individual were both hit; the other individual left the premises in his own vehicle. He was later found at a nearby residence with a gunshot wound in his buttocks, according to the report.
No one appears to know who the shooter is, according to the report.
A second, unrelated shooting occurred around 12:28 a.m. Tuesday in Summerville.
According to a DCSO incident report, a deputy responded to Summerville Medical Center in reference to a man being treated for a gunshot wound.
The deputy spoke to a woman who had brought the victim to the hospital. She told the deputy that the victim was with her an they had stopped at a gas station on Central Avenue to buy beer and were on their way to her home on Parsons Road when an unknown car got behind her and flashed the lights several times. She said she pulled over on Parsons Road near Gadsden Acres, the victim got out of the car to see what the driver of the car wanted, she heard several gunshots, and the victim got back into the car, stating he had been shot, and she drove him to the hospital, according to the report.
However, the victim reported that they were driving from the opposite end of Parsons Road, near West Richardson Avenue, when the vehicle flashed its lights, they pulled over along the big curve on Parsons, and he got out and ultimately got shot, according to the incident report.
The deputy then went to the gas station and spoke to the store clerk, who told him that the woman bought beer at the store, but she was not the driver of the vehicle; an unknown white male was. The clerk further stated he believes she lives on Parsons Road with a white male who may be her husband, according to the report.
The deputy then went to her residence and found a small red car with the dome light on and several drops of blood in the seat. Upon further investigation, the deputy found several shell casings nearby, as well as money lying on the ground, according to the report.
The deputy then knocked on the front door of the residence and a white male answered. According to the report, this individual had blood on his hands. The deputy asked him who else was in the residence and the man replied his three children were there in bed. The deputy then had the man come outside while other officers arrived on the scene to check out the house.
The children were there, and appeared to be fine, according to the report.
The car was towed to the impound lot and the woman was brought back to the sheriff’s office to meet with investigators for more questioning.
Both investigations are ongoing, according to DCSO officials.
