South Carolina Independent School Association Executive Director Larry Watt announced that Pinewood Preparatory School, Summerville, is the winner of the 2012 SCISA State High School Quiz Bowl, and the team from Porter-Gaud School in Charleston placed second.
This year’s championship team was comprised of Sean Carter, Marshall Simmons, Logan Dwyer, Austin Pahl, Ryan Mazalatis and Harry Kauf. Wendy Girgan, Stephanie Todaro and Stuart McMullan served as team sponsors.
Porter-Gaud students competing included Kevin Qualey, Johathan Ellison, Jack Wang, Patrick Ennis and Bobby Faith. Kenneth Lynch was the sponsor.
The team from Oakbrook Preparatory School in Spartanburg came in third.
The SCISA Quiz Bowl is an academic question and answer game played between two teams of four players each. A moderator asks questions, and points are awarded to the team which is the first to signal and correctly answer within the time allowed.
The South Carolina Independent School Association is a non-profit, voluntary association of over 110 independent schools serving more than 37,000 teachers and students.
