Swamp Foxes split with Warriors

The Swamp Fox boys’ basketball team, on Friday, earned its second victory of the season over Wando.
Ashley Ridge earned a 68-53 win over the Warriors in Mt. Pleasant to improve its record to 9-4. Wando dropped to 9-7 with the loss.
The Swamp Foxes had four players post double-digit scoring while holding all the Wando shooters to single digits.
Fred Weeks led the way with 19 points. Romelo Doctor added 15 points while Vernon Moree added 14 and D.J. Stevens added 13. Malik Grahm and Mikey Goodwine also scored for the Swamp Foxes.
The Ashley Ridge girls lost 56-37 to the Lady Warriors. The Lady Swamp Foxes dropped to 5-5 on the season while the Wando girls improved to 9-3.
Olivia Baum and Shelby Daly both scored 10 points for the Lady Swamp Foxes, who also had buckets from Ashley Tierney, Morgan Bowers, Ariel Glover, Brenna Swartz and Kimberly Cole. Kearsten Duvernay scored 23 for Wando while Tessa Akers scored 10.
The Ashley Ridge teams opened region play Tuesday after press time with a game against Bluffton. On Friday, they travel to Fort Dorchester for another region contest.
