Panthers pick up win over Cardinals
On Tuesday night the Pinewood Prep Panthers played their first home game of the season and came away with a 49-35 victory over Cardinal Newman.
Cardinal Newman was without the services of one of their top players, a Clemson signee, who was out with an ankle injury.
After a poor start in which the Panthers only scored three points in the opening quarter, Pinewood’s offense improved over the next three periods. The Panthers scored 13 points in the second and third and finished the game strong with 20 points in the fourth period. Reid Radebaugh and Jimmy Thomas both had 11 points and Evan Schwartz added 10 to lead the Panthers. Schwartz also pulled down 7 rebounds.
Pinewood broke the game open in the third period with three pointers from Thomas, Radebaugh and Corbin Landers. Schwartz sealed the victory, scoring all 10 of his points in the final period. He went 3 for 3 from the field and 4 for 5 from the foul line.
Pinewood improved to 6-4 on the season and does not play again until the Piggly Wiggly Roundball Classic after Christmas.
