Patriots get mixed results against Cougars

The Fort Dorchester basketball teams split their games with Colleton County Tuesday.
The Patriot boys claimed a 47-39 victory over the Cougars. The Fort pulled out to a 14-12 lead in the opening period and then outscored Colleton 23-10 over the next two periods.
Demitri Carter paced the Patriots with eight points. Baptiste Staggers and Drederick Singletary added seven points each while Thad Middleton, Demariez Moorer and Eric Heyward finished with six points each. Wayne Chisolm had the final three Fort points.
Rashee Hodges led Colleton with 21 points.
The Patriots improved to 10-6 on the season with a 2-1 mark in Region 8-AAAA with the win while Colleton fell to 4-11, 0-3.
The Fort girls lost 47-28 to Colleton. The Lady Patriots trailed by 4 at the end of the first period, but were then outscored 24-14 in the next two periods.
Colleton’s Devia Brown posted a game-high 18 points while Courtney Eady added 13 and Brianna Chisolm chipped in 12 for the Lady Cougars.
Erika Martin led the Fort with 15 points while Erika Cobb added five and Territta Jones chipped in 4 for the Lady Patriots. Leah Robinson and Shamari Jones also scored for the Fort.
The Patriots host Bluffton Jan. 18 and travel to Summerville Jan. 22. Tipoff for both games is scheduled for 7 p.m.
