Pinewood Preparatory School recently announced the creation of the Pinewood Preparatory School Academic Merit Scholarship Program. The program is open to rising ninth and tenth graders who exhibit high academic achievement and strong leadership potential.
“Pinewood is noted for its high academic achievement,” Pinewood Head of School Steve Mandell said. “The Merit Scholarship Program will provide the region’s most exceptional students the opportunity to launch their college career here.”
A competitive academic scholarship for outstanding high school students, the program is designed to attract new and talented scholars into the Pinewood community, as well as reward current students for outstanding academic achievement and involvement in one of the school’s signature programs.
Recipients can receive an award of up to fifty-percent of the annual tuition fee. A limited number of scholarships are available, and are based on space availability as well as the following eligibility criteria:
- demonstrated academic achievement in the top 5%-10% of their projected grade as evidenced by GPR (weighted), class rank and nationally standardized test scores
- interest in and commitment to participating in one of Pinewood’s signature programs (the Global Scholar Program or the Fine Arts Program)
- outstanding leadership potential
In addition to completing an application, candidates must submit an essay and two letters of recommendation, and undergo a personal interview.
Applications are now being accepted for the Academic Merit Scholarship Program. Applications are available on the school’s website, www.pinewoodprep.com, or at the school’s main office. The deadline for application is Mar. 1. For information contact Nicole Bailey at 843-376-0142 ext. 2001 or firstname.lastname@example.org.
