Berkeley County Democratic Party
The Berkeley County Democratic Party will hold a breakfast meeting on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at the Berkeley Electric Co-op on Rembert Dennis Blvd. in Moncks Corner. Democratic Candidates for the 1st Congressional District: Elizabeth Colbert-Busch and Martin Skelly will speak. Everyone is invited. Breakfast is a $5.00 donation. JSL Cook-off Feb. 9
Saturday, Feb. 9 • 1-5 pm
The Junior Service League of Summerville will host a Chili, Cornbread, and Pies… Oh, My!!! Cook-off and Vendor Fair. The group is looking for vendors to purchase booths to sell their goods, as well as to compete in the cook-off. This is a fundraiser for JSL and those attending will enjoy fabulous local food, entertainment for the kids, live music, raffles for great prizes, as well as shopping with local vendors. Admission to the event is free. Drinks and samples of the chili, cornbread, and pies will be $1 each. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 each. All money raised will go to charities in the Summerville area

Guided walking tours
The Summerville Dorchester offers two guided walking tours, one of old planter Summerville and the other of the West End neighborhood. Stroll past gracious antebellum and Victorian era homes, and hear stories of those who once lived in them, Civil War experiences, and railroad history. Walks are about a mile long and take a little over an hour. They are available daily by a prior appointment. The Summerville Restaurant Association is offering a Valentine's Day Gift Basket. Tickets for a chance to win the basket are $1 and can be purchased at participating restaurants:

The Basket is filled with gift certificates and retail items valuing over $150. A winner will be announced the first week of February on the Summerville Restaurant Association Facebook page.
Proceeds generated from the basket giveaway will go to the Summerville Restaurant Association to fund growth and development.

Scottish American Military Society
Saturday, Feb. 9 • 9 a.m.
The Scottish American Military society will meet for coffee and doughnuts. The business meeting will begin at 9:30 a.m. If you are a prior military of active duty, reserves, we would like to meet with you. Coast Guard is also included. You need to be of Scottish Heritage. Among the objectives of the group are to honor, preserve promote and perpetuate the proud tradition of American military service with particular emphasis on the military contributions of those of Scottish origins, to support and promote a strong national military establishment; to perpetuate traditions, values, qualities and attitudes from the Scottish American past; to preserve and foster Scottish-American heritage; and to preserve and promote Scottish and American Armed Forces customs. By supporting education, forums on history and genealogy, student awards, Highland Gatherings; charitable contributions and fraternal gatherings for members.

Run or walk your way through our neighborhood on the certified White Gables Charity 5K course, which winds our way through our picturesque neighborhood, all while supporting a wonderful cause!
The Dubose Wildcat Food Pantry is a wonderful charity that provides food to families that are in need within our community. Serving over 60 families each week, any student or family that is in need is eligible to receive a backpack full of meals to provide for the entire weekend!
