The second annual CF Cupcake 5K Run/Walk is scheduled for 9 a.m. March 2 at William Reeves Elementary School.
Event organizers are hoping for a big turnout for the event as all proceeds will go directly to the Gracie Rose Foundation, which was formed in an effort to assist Gracie Rasner with her current and future medical costs as well as give back to the National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.
Gracie endures daily treatments and a long list of medications just to maintain what is normal health for a person with CF. She wakes every morning 30 minutes early for breathing treatments and respiratory therapy. Each evening, she has another 30 minutes of therapy. After every meal, Gracie has to take medicine just to help digest her food.
In addition to the 5K, the event will feature a Family Fun Run (1 mile), Zumba pre-race warm up and Zumba workout after the race, and prizes and snacks for the kids.
Each participant will receive a cupcake at the finish line as well as lunch from Logan's Roadhouse.
To register, contact Taryn Floyd at email@example.com for a registration form. Forms are also available in the front office of William Reeves Elementary.
Cystic fibrosis is an inherited chronic disease that affects the lungs and digestive system of about 30,000 children and adults in the U.S. In the 1950’s few children with CF lived to attend elementary school. Today, advanced treatments have further enhanced and extended the life for children and adults with CF.
