Bebe Anne Hughes Cheatham was a dearly beloved wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and faithful Christian who went to be with her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 5, 2013 surrounded by the love of her family.
Bebe was born in Nace, Virginia on October 31, 1932 to the late Bessie Powers Hughes and James Erastus Hughes. She was educated in the Roanoke City Schools and graduated from Jefferson High School in 1951.
Bebe lived a life of joy and smiles, always seeing the best in everyone and every situation. She enjoyed long walks, gardening, cooking, the Pittsburgh Steelers, Scrabble, bridge, tennis, traveling, Kiawah Island, sunrises, and sunsets. Above all else, she was passionate about her husband, children, grandchildren, and her Heavenly Father. An avid and competitive tennis player, she played team tennis for many years winning numerous matches and awards. She was a member of the South Carolina National Classic Legends who won the Senior National Invitational Team Tennis Tournament in Las Vegas in 1989.
She attended Bethany United Methodist Church faithfully.
Bebe is survived by her beloved husband of fifty-eight years, Robert Angle Cheatham and three adoring children: daughter, Cathy Senter and husband Lin of Albemarle, NC; daughter, Karen Davis and husband Terry of Matthews, NC; and son, Ben Cheatham and wife Sallie of Summerville.
