Career, technology center comes out on top

Corey Thomas

The Dorchester County Career and Technology Center’s Electricity and Welding programs participated in Trident Technical College’s QUEST Competition and won first place in both competitions. 
Corey Thomas, a junior at Woodland High School and an all day student at DCCTC received first place after competing against nine other high school and first year college students in the Electrical competition.  He received a plaque, a monetary prize and tools for his outstanding performance.  His future plan is to become an electrician in the tri-county area. 
Justin Perry, a senior at Ashley Ridge High School and a half day student at DCCTC, received first place after competing against other high school students in the Welding Competition.  DCCTC, Cane Bay High School and Goose Creek High School were represented at the competition.  Justin received a QUEST medal for his outstanding welding performance in the competition.  His future plans are to attend school in Florida to pursue an occupation in underwater welding. 
The QUEST Competition is sponsored by Trident Technical College to promote excellence in certain fields of the workforce.  Congratulations to DCCTC’s winners of this competition.
