The Ashley Ridge boys' soccer team has some holes to fill but is off to a strong start this season.
The Swamp Foxes lost 10 players to graduation in the spring. However, Ashley Ridge does return eight lettermen: Quincy D'Antonio, Michael Sauter, Sean Siehl, Luke Hollahan, Anson Girone, Stockton Blanchard, Ryan West and Christian Guerra.
Blanchard and Guerra both played in goal last season and Girone returns as a striker after becoming one of the Foxes' main scoring threats last season.
Some of the team's younger players showed their potential Thursday when Ashley Ridge improved its record to 3-1-1 with a 4-0 victory over Sumter. Freshman midfielder Britt Soyebo scored two goals while Girone, a sophomore, scored a goal and had an assist. Sophomore Jake Kreider had a nice shot in the second half that deflected off the right post of the goal.
The Foxes' final goal was scored by Hollahan, a senior midfielder. Sauter, Jordan Freund and Manuel Enciso all had an assist in the game.
Other members of this year's team are Austin Saracina, Zach Vollertsen, Matt Loehrke, Joe Ridenour and Cole Edwards.
Ashley Ridge hosts West Ashley March 13, Cane Bay March 14 and travels to Fort Dorchester March 19.
