Lions Club Walk for Sight

  • Wednesday, April 3, 2013

In order to draw public attention to what the Lions Clubs do for their communities, the Lions at the state level decided to have a Walk for Sight through our communities during the month of March.  The walk for sight is to highlight the charge given to the Lions Clubs by Helen Keller in 1925 and sight has been the Lions main mission ever since.  The Summerville Noon and Evening clubs did walks on March 19 and 21. Mayor Collins proclaimed March 19 and 21 as Summerville Lions Clubs Walk for Sight Days.  Plaques were presented to the clubs by Council Person Kima Garten-Schmidt on March 21 at Town Hall before the walk. From left, Summerville Lions Club members Clay Cranford, Helen Hiott, Ellen Werksman, Council Person Kima garten-Schmidt, Paul Werksman, Ed Chaplin, Paule Strobel,  Jim Strobel, Ned Shows, George Jenkins and Dianne Jenkins.
