Summerville D.R.E.A.M. and downtown merchants have scheduled beautiful weather and great entertainment for their monthly downtown celebration this Thursday, April 18 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. “April is traditionally one of our best Third Thursdays” says D.R.E.A.M. Events Coordinator, Jan Hursey. “Everyone is just looking for a reason to be out-of-doors and we’ve got plenty of good reasons – all over town.”
Hutchinson Square will host member booths. The SouthRail Bluegrass Band, fresh from the Flowertown Festival; will be performing favorites like “Rambling Man” and “Sweet Georgia Brown” in a traditional Bluegrass style from 5:30-8:00 p.m. Exhibitions by The Tip Tap Toe Dancers and the Summerville Civic Ballet will be presented at 5:30 and 6:45 p.m. Get ready for the Festa Italiana Bocce Tournament (FestaItalianaSC.org) later this month at the Bocce class.
The Art Walk returns to Short Central, showcasing local arts and crafts vendors. While there, take in the Flowertown Players Musical Theater Class performance at 6 p.m. Jesse Cockcroft, the strolling accordion player, will keep you entertained as you visit the shops and enjoy the Art Walk. The Hot Shots Ukulele group will be in front of People, Places and Quilts on West Richardson. As always the downtown businesses and restaurants will be offering special deals and special meals.
Summerville DREAM sponsors the monthly celebration to create a lively community atmosphere and promote local businesses. The public is invited to come and spend the evening in downtown Summerville.
