A man walked into Walgreens on 1120 N. Main St., Summerville on Tuesday at about 6:20 p.m., went to the pharmacy and said he was robbing them of two types of prescription drugs.
The pharmacy technician told the pharmacy manager they were being robbed. The pharmacy manager handed over the bottles as the suspect apologized and exited the store.
The suspect is believed to be a white male or light-skinned black male with brown hair, about 5 feet and 8 inches tall, 180 pounds and between the age of 20 and 30, according to a Summerville Police Department incident report.
The suspect entered the store, went to the restroom then walked to the pharmacy counter. The suspect told the pharmacist technician, “I'm sorry to have to do this to you but you have two minutes to give me Opana and Oxycodone.”
The pharmacy technician said while speaking to the pharmacy manager the suspect was counting down the two minutes aloud. The manager grabbed an open bottle of 5mg Opana (10 tablets) and open bottles of Oxycodone – one 30mg (27 tablets) and another 20mg (27 tablets), according to the report.
The manager gave the bottles to the suspect when he was at the 30-second mark in the countdown. The manager told police the suspect kept his left hand in his pocket as though he was holding a weapon.
The suspect told the manager he was “really sorry” before leaving the building, according to the report.
An employee of a nearby pizza restaurant told police she saw a male matching the description walking with a brown paper bag in hand from the backside of Walgreens on Bear Island Road toward Sheep Island Road, according to the report.
The investigation continues.
