File -- Youngsters enjoy a morning by the lake during last year’s Dorchester Shrine Club Children’s Fishing Rodeo. --

The Dorchester Shrine Club will have its fifth annual Children’s Fishing Rodeo from 8 a.m. until noon April 27 at its lake located off Highway 17-A just outside of Summerville.
Everything for kids age 17 and under is free. All they need to bring is a fishing pole as the Shriners will provide bait and lunch.
An awards ceremony will be held at the end with trophies and prizes awarded in several categories including Most Fish, Biggest Fish and Youngest Fisherman.
Approximately 100 children plus accompanying adults came out to the club’s lake at 2150 Beech Hill Road for last year’s event.
Shriner’s International sponsors 22 hospitals across the U.S., Canada and Mexico that provide advanced care for children with orthopedic conditions, burns, spinal cord injuries, and cleft lip and palate. The Dorchester Shrine Club has approximately 230 members dedicated to helping the Shriner’s health care system.
