Pinewood Preparatory School announced four more academic scholarship letter of intent signers recently. They join nine athletic and nine academic scholarship letter of intent signers at Pinewood so far this year.
Megan Patterson has done an exceptional job academically, taking 16 advanced level classes, including six AP classes. She has maintained a 4.63 GPR her senior year, while keeping busy with Karate, the Student Ambassadors Program and the Interact Club. She has a talent for working with young children, and has worked as a tutor with Project Hope, a Pinewood Teacher Cadet, and a volunteer with the Pinewood Plus Program. Megan plans to major in Psychology, with the goal of becoming a Child Psychologist. Patterson will be attending the University of Kentucky.
Veronica Pieretti came to Pinewood in the sixth grade, and has done incredibly well, maintaining a 4.46 GPR while taking Honors English, History and Marketing. She was the Co-Editor of the yearbook and is a Teacher Cadet. She has also been active in cheerleading, where she enjoys mentoring Pinewood’s Cheer Cubs and participates in the Interact Club. Pieretti will be attending Winthrop University.
Cory Ryan is consistently on the Honor Roll, excelling in AP English and maintaining a 4.7 GPR. He is a talented performing artist, and has participated in Play Production Class for many years. He is part of a talented group that started performing musicals at Pinewood and has taken the Performing Arts Program to another level. Outside of Pinewood, Ryan has worked in local community theater, took part in a performing arts trip to Scotland, and was selected to the Broadway Student Summit and The Juilliard School’s Summer Program. Ryan is one of five students nationally (along with fellow Pinewood student Ryan Ball) to receive an International Thespian Society Scholarship for make-up design. He will be attending Coastal Carolina University next fall.
Justin Todd is a solid student, taking a mix of college placement courses while maintaining a 4.5 GPR his senior year. He enjoys helping people, and spends his spare time volunteering at his church, visiting hospitals and helping the elderly. Todd works in the Leaders Club at the Summerville YMCA, and was Pinewood's delegate to Boys' State, a program that has changed his direction, and inspired him to speak about its positive impact to other students. After an intensive college search process, Todd has decided upon the University of South Carolina, were he plans to study medicine.
