Benjaman J. Bull, beloved husband of Coy L. Bull, passed away with his family by his side on Monday, April 22. Benjaman was born in Harleyville, SC on May 13, 1930, the son of the late Benjamin and Mattie Matilda (Mizell) Bull.
Known as JB or BJ to his friends, he graduated Harleyville High School in 1947. Ben joined the Air Force in 1950 and served in the Korean War until 1954. In 1953, he married Coy Paige Lindsey in Pascagoula, MS. After his honorable discharge from the Air Force, Ben and Coy moved to Summerville, SC where Ben started work at the Charleston Air Force Base as a metrologist. He worked there until his retirement in 1984. He also ran his own television repair service, “Bennie’s TV Service”, from his home shop in Summerville. In 2003, he and Coy moved back to his childhood farm in Harleyville and built a home.
Ben and Coy were lifelong members of the Stallsville United Methodist Church in Summerville. He served there on the board of trustees and also taught Sunday school.
Along with his wife Coy of 59 years, Benjaman is survived by sisters Theresa Leigh of Charleston, SC; Deloris Jenkins of Sanford, NC; Betty Dantzler of St. George, SC; Eleanor Childers of Fort Mills, SC; a son Victor Bull and wife Cindy of New Milford, CT and their children Alison and Lindsey; a daughter Angela Bull and husband Frank Kaputa of Glastonbury, CT and their children Ziv and Zoe. He was predeceased by his brother Jack.
Funeral services will be held 1 P.M. Saturday April 27, 2013 at Stallsville United Methodist Church in Summerville. Burial will follow at Bethel United Methodist Church in Harleyville. Visitation will be 5 to 7 P.M. Friday evening at Bryant Funeral Home, 607 N. Parler Ave., St. George, SC 29477.
