Thurston graduates from USMC boot camp

Provided -- PFC Thurston is the son of Eldon and Jean Nielsen of Summerville, and the grandson of Laura Albinus of Goose Creek; and Lewis and Audrey Thurston of Yorktown, Virginia. His parents joined him at Parris Island for his graduation earlier this month. From left are Eldon Nielsen, Thurston and Jean Nielsen. --

PFC Benjamin Thurston, 19, of Summerville graduated from United States Marine Corps boot camp at Marine Corps Recruit Depot Parris Island on April 12.
PFC Thurston successfully completed 13 weeks of intensive basic training at MCRD Parris Island, one of 86 recruits in Training Platoon 3025, part of the 3rd BTN, Kilo Company.
PFC Thurston is a 2011 graduate of Stratford High School. Following ten days home on leave he will report to Camp Geiger, N.C. for one month of Military Combat Training then will go on to Military Occupation Specialty school.
